SPANISH MOSS - WORKS ON PAPER
Living line, I am attracted to drawing and painting Spanish moss and other epiphytes for many years. Despite it’s ethereal beauty, it was forbidden fruit in adolescence - buggy, infested. These drawings are from direct observation, pinning a clump at my drawing table, moving it into different shapes for each drawing. I’m inspired by ghost-like subtle contrasts of filtered light, a knotted intricacy creating its form. Thriving on air alone, it embodies the fragility of an interconnected ecosystem.
